1. Brief introduction:

Injection mould is a tool for producing plastic products, mainly used for mass production. Injection mould can provide plastic products with complete structure and precise size conveniently and quickly.


2. Types of injection molds

1)Due to the large amount of injection molds used and the fields of application are different, the classification is more complicated.
2)According to the molding characteristics, it can be divided into thermosetting injection mold and thermoplastic injection mold.
3)According to the molding process, it can be divided into transfer molds, blow molds, casting molds, thermoforming molds, hot pressing molds and injection molds.


3. Structure of injection molds

1) Molded parts
Parts that give shapes, structures and dimensions to molding materials. It usually consists of a core (punch), a concave mold cavity, a threaded core, inserts, etc.

2) Injection system
It is the channel that guides the molten plastic from the nozzle of the injection machine to the closed mold cavity. It usually consists of a main channel, a runner, a gate and a cold slug well.

3) Guide parts
In order to ensure that the movable mold and the fixed mold can be aligned when they are closed, the guide part is used for guiding and positioning. It is composed of a guide post and a guide sleeve. Some molds are also equipped with guide parts on the ejector plate to ensure the smooth and reliable movement of the demoulding mechanism.

4) Demoulding mechanism
A device to make the demoulding of plastic parts and gating system. There are many structural forms, and commonly adopted demoulding mechanisms such as ejector rod, pipe ejector, roof plate and pneumatic ejector. The demoulding mechanism is generally composed of ejector rod, reset rod, slingshot, ejector rod fixing plate, top plate (top ring) and top plate guide post/guide sleeve, etc.
5) Core pulling mechanism
For plastic parts with side holes or undercuts, before being ejected and demolded, sideways core pulling or sliding block separation (lateral parting) should be performed first, so that the mold can be demoulded smoothly.

4. Application of injection mould

1)Most plastic products are produced by injection molds. For many companies, injection molds are important equipment necessary for them to produce various plastic products.
2)Products produced by injection molds have the advantages of light weight, high strength, good toughness, corrosion resistance, good insulation, easy coloring, easy molding, and low cost.

With the rapid development of the plastics industry, plastic products have been greatly promoted and applied in various industrial sectors such as aviation, electronics, machinery, automobiles and daily life. Whether it is improving productivity, ensuring product quality, or reducing costs and labor intensity, injection molds have great advantages.


5. Injection mould and injection moulding machine

1)During injection molding, the mold is within the allowable range of the process parameters of the injection molding machine. Injection parameters involved include injection volume, injection force and clamping force, etc.
2)The clamping mechanism of the injection molding machine should provide sufficient locking force to keep the moving and fixed molds tightly closed during the injection molding process.
3)A mold with multiple cavities is often used in injection molding, and the number of cavities must be set reasonably.
4)The arrangement of multiple cavities must also be required. A balanced arrangement should be used as much as possible to form a balanced pouring system.
5)The layout of the cavity and the opening of the gate should be symmetrical, so as to avoid the phenomenon of overflow caused by placing the mold under partial load.


6. Injection moulding process

The injection molding process can be roughly divided into the following six stages:
Mold closing, glue injection, pressure holding, cooling, mold opening, and product removal.
